Safeguarding Statement
The safeguarding of the children who attend Eling Infant School and Nursery is the highest priority to us, and we consider their safety and welfare our most important job. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at our school.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and children should feel safe and secure at school and at home. Staff and volunteers at Eling are trained and aware of their responsibilities and committed to Safeguarding.
There are times when children do not feel safe. In this case all concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as' Designated Safeguarding Leads' in school, follow all of the Hampshire guidance and comply with the 'sharing information' guidance.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Trina Sillence Headteacher. The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Lucy Biggs Assistant Headteacher. They are supported by a team of other staff who have been trained accordingly, and a Safeguarding Governor (please see the Governors page for more information).

If you have any safeguarding concerns about your child or any other child at Eling Infant School and Nursery please do not hesitate to contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead who knows who to contact for the best advice and help and is experienced in using the appropriate degree of confidentiality. If you are concerned about a child, please speak to our Designated Safeguarding Leads – nothing is too small, or insignificant if a child may be at risk.
You can contact the Safeguarding lead via the school phone number (02380 862 267) or email address marking it 'For the attention of the Designed Safeguarding Lead' (adminoffice@eling.hants.sch.uk).
Eling Infant School’s awareness of Safeguarding, helps us to make sure that children and families get the help they need when children do not feel safe. This can include support for domestic abuse, neglect, exploitation, and child-on-child abuse. Please see our downloadable policies below, and our policies page for other information.
There are a number of local agencies who support us and our families to build trust and safety for our children. These include the NSPCC, Hampshire children’s services and Hampshire Police. Please use the contact details and websites below to find out more.
